School councils are led by parents, and most of their members are parents. The principal, staff representatives, one or more community representatives, and in some cases, students are also members of the council. Each year, a new Council is elected at the first meeting in September and serves until the subsequent year’s election.
School Councils are important advisory bodies to the schools and school board. Through the active participation of parents, the school council helps improve student achievement and increase accountability of the education system to parents.
We invite you to explore the initiatives of the school council at Metcalfe Public School.
