Volunteering

You Can Make a Difference by Volunteering

Why Volunteer?

We are all volunteers on M.P.S Council and we depend on other volunteers to help us make our programs a success. Volunteering is not only good for our school and community but we are each rewarded in our own special way, whether it’s knowing you’ve helped make a difference or even gained some practical experience to further your own goals.  Please contact us if you are interested in getting involved.

Volunteer Security

‘Parents’ do not have to be screened through the Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE) unless they are involved in a ‘high risk’ activity (ex: out of town and/or overnight field trips – an activity where the parent can potentially be left alone with a student).

Every ‘non-parent’ should go through the ONFE screening process (including grand-parents). They can register on-line at www.onfe-rope.ca/ovie/application.  (If you do not have access to the internet, an application can be mailed to you.)  Following your on-line registration, you will receive an ‘automatic confirmation email’ with instructions on how to proceed to get a police records check (PRC) along with an attachment (a letter to waive the cost of getting a PRC).  You should print this letter and bring it with you to the police station to initiate a PRC.  Please note that it can take up-to 3-4 weeks to get a PRC.  Upon receipt of the PRC, two references from your application will be contacted.

Once the screening process is complete, you will be notified by sending you a copy of your ‘profile’ as a means of confirmation, that the screening process is complete and approved.
